This Is the Kick Off - 2007/10/23 02:01 Hey guys. Well this is my first post, and the first post in this section! Cool. Anyways, I just wanted to share some things I've learned in my past years as a Blenderhead!

Faking Indirect Light:

Ok, so I learned this in a book I have. "Digital Lighting and Rendering" by Jeremy Birn, I would definitely suggest this book as a buy, it's really useful and can really teach you a lot on how to render lighting really well. Anyways, some of us already know that yafray does in-fact, take forever to render things, unless you have a renderfarm or a multi-cpu computer. So, there is a workaround if you are doing an animation, I only reccommend this workaround for animations, as Yafray still exceeds everything when it comes to still UI lighting.
Basically, you can fake an indirect bounce, by making a spotlight without any shadow rendering, and fuzzy up the edges a whole lot, then give it the same color as the light being bounced. Here would be an example of what Fake IL lighting looks like.

So yeah, that's a WIP, I'm still tweaking the lights, but yeah, experiment on your own and let us see what turns up!
