Simple Animations Print E-mail

fenoAll we know that blender has lots of features. Although, build an animation isn't so hard, and more: everyone can do it. This tutorial give you some tricks in simple animations.

Let blender animate Location

The basis is that Blender can save the Location, Rotation and Scale positions. Why do you need that? Blender animate objects between two saved positions.

So let's start with Location.

Fire up Blender.

Let me explain the steps:

  • Delete the default cube;

  • Add a new UV Sphere (you might use 16 x 16 measures);

  • Righ-click the sphere, hold Ctrl, press G, move it 5 squares to the left;

  • Now press I and choose Loc;

  • Press Up Arrow 3 times to go to the frame 31;

  • Move the sphere ten squares to the right;

  • Press I and choose Loc;

Press Ctrl + A on 3D View to see  the result.

Now if you play the animation from frame one to the frame 31 the sphere will move to the right direction.

We can animate rotation and scale too

Now that you saw what Blender can do, we can play with the other features.

Let's do almost the same, but this time with a cube.

Follow the steps:

  • Delete the default cube;

  • Add a new mesh cube at the center of the scene;

  • Move the cube some squares to the left;

  • Press I and choose LocRotScale;

  • Press Up Arrow 3 times to go to the frame 31;

  • Move the cube to the right, rotate it and let it bigger (scale);

  • Press I and choose LocRotScale;

Press Ctrl + A on 3D View to see  the result.

Cool eh? The cube move around, rotate and scale!

You can do this with any object in Blender.

Did you know?
Changing views
You already know that Numpad 1, 7 and 3 puts you on front, top and left view, but did you know that Ctrl+1, Ctrl+7 and Ctrl+3 puts you on back, down and right view (the opposite views) ?
