Contest - 2007/04/14 03:41 Hello all,

I had the idea to make a contest.

Simple rules:

1) Software: Blender

2) Works delivery: Development and rendering screenshots, and the .blend files or images and other files user.

3) Prize to me discussed.

Waiting for suggestions!

So does this mean that everything would have to be done in Blender? What about like using MapZone, GIMP, or similar programs to do textures and such before the final render?

If other programs are not used, then are there any limitations as to what renderers can be used as well?

Is all that required for one's entry, or just the final render/animation and/or .blend file? The rest being optional?

Other questions ...

Can there be a new listing in the level above "General Discussion" (where "Game Engine" "Modelling" "Off-Topic" etc are listed) for "Contests"?

I noticed that you posted this same post on the Brazillian forum. Maybe the listing for "Contests" should have it's own forum so that both Brazillian & International users could all access the postings in the same place. I am not bi-lingual myself, but if all the 'official' postings regarding rules and such are, then all the participants will be able to participate together in a unified area.

Are you planning reoccuring contests, like weekly/monthly?

Thanks,

You are right. I meant Blender to model, texturing and render. Textures would be done in any software (GIMP, Photoshop)
And for render, any render is allowed. Because nowadays we have a lot of them working with Blender (Yafray, internal render, povray, mentalray, indigo,...)

Ok, so the rules for this:
Everyone can join the contest. To join the contest, you must only send your work in progress (WIP) screenshots.
But when finished, you have to post the .blend (with screen shot), rendered picture screen shot.
Of course, if you would like any prize.

Other questions ...

Can there be a new listing in the level above "General Discussion" (where "Game Engine" "Modelling" "Off-Topic" etc are listed) for "Contests"?
I think it's an excelent idea.
I propose to create the two content topics:
Contests -> to anounce the contests , its #, rules
WIP -> to participants post their works

I think monthly it's a good idea.

At least, I'll wait this discussion finish to create all this things.

Waiting for comments.

What kind of prize are we talking about?

Good idea

Is this a contest for animations or just stills?

Re:Contest - 2007/10/12 20:23 Looks like it's been 3 1/2 months since anything has happened on this thread. Are you still thinking about some sort of contest, or have you given up on the idea?

Re:Contest - 2007/10/24 18:51 I think the easiest prize to give out would be prestige. Maybe the winner gets their entry posted on the main page, or prominately in the gallery until the winner of the next contest is announce. Or maybe they get to pick the topic & type (i.e. still shot, animation, texturing, etc) of the next contest. How does that sound?

Sounds cool

November is the BlenderMaster´s first birthday (yes, one year old!)
Maybe we can start contests in november.
The winner may choose the next topic and will have his project published on the main page!

How does that sound?
